Dear
FEFLOW User, FEFLOW 6 has been released about half a year ago, and your overall
very positive feedback confirms that we are on the right track. Since the time of release, a number of patch versions have been
provided on the FEFLOW website, and most of you may have already noticed that
besides the usual bug fixing some additional functionality has been
added to the software. The most important changes are listed below. We strongly recommend to use the latest version
available, and to make use of the new automatic search for updates. In the meanwhile, our developers are working on implementing the
functionality still missing in the Standard user interface of FEFLOW 6.
Furthermore, also completely new features are being developed for the
next release. We are hoping – but not yet promising - to be able to present a
sneak preview on occasion of the next FEFLOW training courses and at
conferences we will attend. During the last months, members of the FEFLOW team have been attending
a number of international conferences, including the International Mine Water Conference on Cape Breton Island/Canada, the IAH 2010 Congress in Krakow/Poland, and the ISMAR 7 in Abu Dhabi/UAE. We would like to thank the
organizers as well as all the FEFLOW users we met for the interesting
discussions and your most valuable feedback. Your FEFLOW Team |

New Functionality in FEFLOW 6.0 While most of the currently developed functionality
will be only available in the next major version, some smaller modifications
have been made to the current release. These include: ·
Automatic check
for updates: By default, FEFLOW now checks for possible updates
once a week via the internet. No user data (besides the machine IP) is
transferred for this. The automatic update can be turned off or manually
executed via the Tools menu. ·
Improved
visualization: Visualization speed has been increased
significantly, especially for views with many boundary condition symbols. A
new software rendering mode allows visualization without any hardware
acceleration as a last resort when experiencing graphics problems. The OpenGL
properties can now be seen in a new tab in the view properties. ·
Export pathlines as points ·
Export
isosurfaces ·
Additional units ·
Slice view
displays warning if elements/nodes are selected on unseen
slices ·
